Designer Bio

Danielle Rossi was born at the mid-way point of the epic 80s to a large Italian family. Those who are familiar with the joys of growing up in this environment know that hard work is taught at a young age. Being a full blooded Italian woman, Rossi received careful mentorship from the family matriarchs in sewing and craft work. However, it wasn’t until high school that she discovered that sewing was more than a domestic skill she excelled at. It became one of her many passions in life.

It isn’t a stretch to say Rossi is guy crazy, although perhaps not in the way most people might think. She has always been inspired by the males in her life, starting with family. The influence women had on Rossi holds equal significance, but she always found herself drawn to what the guys were up to. The aesthetic exuded by fathers, uncles, friends and even male celebrities was a constant attraction. Some of Rossi’s earliest expressions of fashion included elements of masculinity to an otherwise feminine outfit.

The next step to develop Rossi’s inherent talents was to enroll in Kwantlen’s Fashion Design program. Where high school was the key to unlocking her passion for sewing, college allowed Rossi to discover a love for working with textiles and fabrics. As demonstrated by her penchant for accenting feminine outfits with notes of masculinity, Rossi is well known for her ability to mix different fabrics and textures into one outfit. Of course, when we say “different fabrics and textures” we can be assured that Rossi will reach for her self described “obsession” with plaids or deep, rich colours.

“Eclectic” can be a word that people overuse when they cannot fit someone into a box, but other times it genuinely describes the person. Rossi’s eclectic tastes come shining through in her work to create a fresh and vibrant take on the status quo. Her goal was to create a collection that combined her disparate tastes into a synergistic, yet eclectic, whole. The result: t.h.i.r.t.y.s.e.v.e.n. This collection is the culmination of her many interests and passions and it is canonical example of what Rossi has to offer the world of fashion.
